The gathering started on a Friday with a feast on the Dining Pavilion at Isis Oasis.
Everyone went to the Theatre thereafter to witness the beautiful decorations and the huge painting of Seshet that transformed
the theatre into a grand temple. The first event was a fantastic dance by Leema who emulated the writing goddess using a stylus
and a plumb bob. It was as though the painting came alive on stage and all were stunned by the beauty of this incredible sacred
dancer.
Then Lady Olivia who was sitting in the new throne, a replica of one owned by King Tut, rose to the occasion with one of
her amazing guided meditations which everyone agreed was her very best. After this journey out of our bodies we were able
to introduce ourselves to each other with our original invocations of the Goddess Seshet which we each wrote using 7 words
given to us by our neighbors. Each was a gem and we will put them in the computer and print them them out so we can have them
for those who wish them.
Saturday brought us a presentation by Linda Iles and Catherine Farah, teaching us how wines were used in ancient Egypt
and even offering tastings from red and white wine. Linda made wonderful little pendants of grapes and a tiny chalice for
all.
Then deTraci Regula addressed us describing her recent trips to Crete and how she discovered that the Priestesses of Crete
paddled on the sea and how she herself became a paddling Priestess while there. She also created the most amazing plumb bob
pendulum and all were called to ask it questions in honor of the Goddess Seshet.
After Lunch Mary Greer guided us in a writing workshop. She got us all to write as quickly and purely as we could about
the Goddess and share our work. It is amazing what happens when the Goddess guides your hand.
Isadora Forrest followed with information on how to make offerings to the Deities.
She is a wonderful ritualistic and
there is always much to learn from her. These three writers were very inspiring and perfect to help us to understand the Goddess
Seshet.
After dinner all went to the theatre to see the melodrama by Lady Loreon and Lady Zarita ‘The Iraqi Priestesses and
the Ali Babas, or the Return of Inanna‘. It was about women of Iraq who find their husbands were the thieves who stole
the treasures from the Iraqi Museum of Antiquities. They then threaten their spouses with various deprivations until they
decide to return them with the aid of Inanna who comes alive after being stolen. Acted by the audience, it was hilariously
funny yet poignant.
Finally for the evening Diveena, our Seshet Priestess, a talented artist and musician, put on a performance that included
the participants with dancing and chanting.
After Sunday morning breakfast we had expected a Gnostic mass but Elizabeth Kelly who is empowered to do the ceremony,
became ill with vertigo . The show must go on and Sabina and Chrirsty Salo created a fabulous morning along with our special
guest and extraordinary musician Constance Demby. Together Sabina and Constance sang and played music that was beyond belief.
There is a CD being made from their concert that can be purchased for $20 including mailing charges. During the performance
Sharyn McDonald passed an egg for all to share along with bread and wine and so we had our mass in a different way. I thought
the egg and bread brilliant as these are symbols for the Goddess Isis. All this was followed by ordinations in the FOI and
TOI presided over by Lady Olivia.
Seven Priestesses were ordained under the great tree.
In the evening we witnessed a film about the seven chakras and one on Temples of ancient Egypt.
Monday began with an adoration of the Goddess Seshet with Lady Zarita, Diveena, and new Priestess Zarifa presiding.
The final workshop was with Barbara Westlake teaching sacred geometry and facilitating a group ecological collage using
wonders of nature.
So ended the 2003 Convocation, never to be forgotten. Can we top this next year?
Blessings,
Loreon
